most Japanese import cars can be easily started by selecting the vehicle’s parameters (Make, Model, Engine and etc). Tuning is simplified due to the A/F Feedback control; where a target A/F value can be input and the F-CON V Pro will adjust fuel automatically. Also full data logging capabilities are built into the F-Con V Pro Power Writer software. All major vehicle conditions including; speed, rpm, water temperature, intake temperature, timing, boost, injector duty cycle and etc can be logged to an HKS Pro Dealer’s computer.


The basic ECU looks like this and is used with different patch harness for the more common Asian vehicles. However if you wanted to, there is a universal harness which can be used to eliminate all factory efi wiring.

The stock ecu is retained in a lot of cases to control cooling fans, keep the immobilizer function active, and to do some functions like dashboard control in say a 2005 STI. It is a well thought out solution by HKS which retains factory functionality and combines that with the flexibility of the FCON V PRO. Price on the main unit is $1395 retail.

The Harnesses vary but the Harness for the US Evolution 9 is shown below, just as an example. The Map sensor and Intake temperature sensor are optional but will allow the unit to operate in speed density mode where the restrictive MAS air meter can be removed. This has the added plus of allowing smooth operation with the BOV vented to atmosphere.

The FCON can store several Sub maps at once, 4 fuel and 4 ignition at once in order to allow for instant switching of maps for Water injection, and different fuels. There are several ways of switching the maps one of which is using the FCON Pro Navigator, which also has the added benefit of being able to display all parameters seen by the VPRO. Boost, AF ratio, timing, Duty cycle etc can all be seen on this tasteful display. Cost on the Navigator PRO $345.

That is all that would be needed plus tuning to get you up and running.

The VPRO can be configured to read most MAP sensors and temp sensors. It can also be configured for use with most of the wide band meters on the market that have an analog output.
